Tree-Plant-Day.
Teamwork & Tree Work: Planting the future together.
Equipped with shovels and gardening gloves, we left our office for a day and traveled by train to Schiers in the picturesque Prättigau region in perfect weather.
There, together with forestry workers and myclimate employees, we planted climate-resistant trees.
We have been financially supporting the myclimate project for climate-optimized forest management for over two years, and now we wanted to get involved on site ourselves.
In doing so, we not only planted trees, but also strengthened our team spirit.
Hand in hand for the Prättigau forest
Schiers in Prättigau, known for its magnificent Alpine panorama and the monumental Salginatobel Bridge.
And soon also for its climate-optimized forest.
The protected forest area extends over 13,000 hectares (or 20,000 football pitches).
By voluntarily refraining from using wood, the forest removes CO₂ from the atmosphere in the long term.
But a few years ago, a section of forest had to be cleared for the construction of a cantonal road.
And it was precisely this piece of forest that we reforested on Tree Plant Day.
Sycamores, larches and oaks – we have planted twelve of these climate-resistant tree species in the steep terrain.
As these young trees are an irresistible feast for deer and other wild animals, we have erected a protective fence around the trees in sweaty manual labor.
These protective fences will guard the trees for 25 years until the trees are mature, big and strong enough to look after themselves.
This figure has opened our eyes – who would have thought that a tree would take so long to grow up?
Go green or go home: Authentic climate impact.
Our partnership with myclimate has its roots in 2017 and has been bearing fruit since January 2022.
For more than two years, we have been calculating and balancing the CO₂ emissions of our promotional items and giveaways.
This enables us to finance two climate projects – one of which is climate-optimized forest management in Prättigau, Graubünden.
At bb trading, we no longer talk about climate neutrality, but rather about climate impact.
That’s why we launched Tree Plant Day to initiate a positive impact.
Actions instead of words – that is part of our DNA at bb trading.
That’s why our commitment to the climate is not limited to the forest protection project.
Once a year, we clean up the beautiful banks of the Limmat behind our offices on Clean-Up Day and take part in Bike-to-Work.
