The National Winter Games Haslital Brienz 2024 were undoubtedly a particular highlight of this year.
This unique sports festival not only gave the 544 athletes from all over Switzerland the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of an audience, but also provided wonderful encounters and experiences.
The participants competed in 6 sports over 4 days and courageously gave their best time and time again.
They were celebrated by an enthusiastic audience and can be proud of their achievements.
Schiers in Prättigau, known for its magnificent Alpine panorama and the monumental Salginatobel Bridge.
And soon also for its climate-optimized forest.
The protected forest area extends over 13,000 hectares (or 20,000 football pitches).
By voluntarily refraining from using wood, the forest removes CO₂ from the atmosphere in the long term.
But a few years ago, a section of forest had to be cleared for the construction of a cantonal road.
And it was precisely this piece of forest that we reforested on Tree Plant Day.
Sycamores, larches and oaks – we have planted twelve of these climate-resistant tree species in the steep terrain.
As these young trees are an irresistible feast for deer and other wild animals, we have erected a protective fence around the trees in sweaty manual labor.
These protective fences will guard the trees for 25 years until the trees are mature, big and strong enough to look after themselves.
This figure has opened our eyes – who would have thought that a tree would take so long to grow up?
A real highlight of last year’s TOUCH was our bb trading Tea Time stand. Our customers were able to create their own tea blend with our tea baristas – from over 16 different teas and herbs.
The creative blends and the scent of fresh herbs were met with enthusiasm. You can look forward to seeing what we have prepared as a special gift for you this year. We can only reveal this much: a visit to TOUCH 2024 is definitely worthwhile! We look forward to seeing you there!
Thanks to our generous donation, we can continue to provide the athletes with the best possible support in practising sport on a regular basis. Next up are the preparations for the 2024 Regional Games in Nyon.
With your donation, Special Olympics Switzerland can ensure regular sports activities for people with disabilities. This enables enthusiastic athletes to develop their physical and mental abilities and build self-confidence through sport.
