An unexpected start with a happy ending.
Unexpected:
Sometimes it takes a second look.
When Deborah first interviewed at bb, there was little to suggest that she would end up staying for so many years.
After completing her apprenticeship, she spent the summer enjoying some time off before registering with a staffing agency. Next came two weeks at a call center – just the thing for someone who loves sales. Then the staffing agency called: They had a position that sounded like it could be a great fit for her.
At the interview, however, Deborah was not exactly enthusiastic at first. The moment she arrived, she was greeted by two dogs barking loudly. Let’s put it this way: It wasn’t exactly love at first sight.
Besides, Deborah was still waiting to hear back about another job at the time. One thing made that opportunity particularly appealing: The commute. It was a winding route that felt almost like a little «racetrack» – with no traffic jams to slow her down! So she asked bb trading for a day to think it over while she waited for the other company’s decision. But the offer never came – instead, she received a rejection. What can we say? Lucky us! And so Deborah accepted bb’s offer.
The «racetrack» may not have worked out, but her career at bb quickly picked up speed. It didn’t take long for her to realize that she felt right at home here. Looking back, she says the other job would not have been the right fit after all – cool commute or not!
Level-up:
From the youngest team member to Co-Head of Accounting.
Deborah joined bb during a particularly eventful time: She spent her first two weeks working at the old office before the company moved into the new premises where bb is still based today.
Back then, the entire team consisted of just 17 employees. Apart from the apprentice, Deborah was the youngest. It soon became clear that she would leave her mark at bb – quite literally. After a few years, IT even had to replace her keyboard because her fingernails had managed to leave not just small dents, but actual holes in some of the keys!
Her career moved just as quickly – or rather, upward. Before long, Deborah was given the reins in Accounting and later brought her sister Rahel on board. Today, the two share the leadership role and jointly head the Accounting team
Looking back:
Many years, many memories.
So many years together naturally come with plenty of experiences. Alongside challenging, exhausting, stressful, and turbulent periods, there have also been countless wonderful, funny, and meaningful moments that Deborah still looks back on fondly.
One of the best parts: Over the years, some coworkers became true, long-standing friends – friendships that are still going strong today.
Looking back, Deborah’s story may be the perfect reminder that things do not always have to go according to plan. What began with two barking dogs at a job interview and a completely different plan in mind became a defining chapter in her professional life. These days, by the way, there are no more barking welcomes: With the team now approaching 80 employees, dogs are no longer allowed in the workplace. Still, a few wagging tails and belly-rub breaks between all those numbers, emails, and meetings would certainly have their charm
Dear Deborah: Who would have thought back then that such an unexpected start would lead to so many years together? Thank you for your many years of dedication, your eye for detail, and your incredible way with numbers. We’re so glad you found your way to bb back then – and that you stayed!
