Perfect Timing:
From a «20 Minuten» job ad to the bb team.
A small job ad at exactly the right time…
For Melanie Takacs, it was a job advertisement in «20 Minuten» that introduced her to bb trading – the beginning of a journey that continues to this day.
After completing her apprenticeship, Melanie stayed with her former training company for around two more years to gain additional professional experience. But at some point, things no longer felt right: she was losing her enthusiasm for the job, and the company itself was heading into a difficult phase. So, she decided it was time for a change and applied to bb trading.
The job ad immediately caught her attention: bb was looking for people to join Sales Support and Order Processing. No endless list of requirements, no unrealistic expectations – simply the opportunity to learn something new. Exactly what Melanie was looking for at the time.
After the first interview came a trial afternoon, further conversations and, before long, it was clear: Melanie was going to become part of bb. What convinced her most? The people and the family-like atmosphere. Her thought back then? «If it doesn’t work out, I’ll simply look for something else again after a year or two.»
Spoiler: those one or two years turned into 15!
(Editor’s note: Funny enough, we hear this story quite often at bb anniversaries: «Let’s see how it goes» somehow turns into decades before anyone even notices. We must have a pretty good recipe for keeping people around… 😉)
Sales Support Jackpot:
The perfect fit for Melanie.
Melanie started almost at the same time as another colleague in what was then called the SME Team, where all bb newcomers began before moving into their respective departments.
Soon, the question came up: Which one of them would move into Sales Support, and which one would join Order Processing?
Luckily, the decision was made quickly – and Melanie joined Sales Support. A real jackpot, as it turned out. Because it is exactly this combination of creativity, product proximity, behind-the-scenes work and variety that makes the role so exciting for her to this day. Or, more simply: the diversity. No two days in Sales Support are the same. Melanie communicates with suppliers across Europe and the Far East, constantly discovers new and unusual products, prepares quotations, organizes samples and supports the sales team. Exactly her thing.

Melanie particularly enjoys preparing quotations and being involved in major projects and tenders. These tasks allow her to continuously learn more about product requirements, regulations and legislation – keeping her challenged and constantly moving forward, even after 15 years.
15 Years & Still Loving It:
Highlights, friendships and countless memories.
15 years at bb – and Melanie can hardly believe it herself:
«Time has flown by. Deep down, I still feel like I’m 22», she says with a laugh.
Some of her highlights include the trip to China with visits to manufacturers on site, numerous other bb supplier visits, attending the PSI trade show and TOUCH every year, as well as countless team events with her colleagues.
And then there was also a helicopter flight – a very special memory, even if today it may not fully align with bb’s sustainability philosophy anymore.
What does Melanie appreciate most about bb? The team spirit, the many opportunities and the feeling of being exactly where she belongs.
And sometimes a workplace can even lead to lifelong friendships: during her time at bb, Melanie has not only experienced exciting projects but has also met people who became an important part of her life – like a former colleague with whom she is still close friends today.
Dear Melanie: After 15 years of discovering new products with the same curiosity and enthusiasm, it’s clear that you truly found the perfect job.
