Tree-Plant-Day 2026:
Together for the Forest of Tomorrow.

Not Taking Root:
Planting Trees Instead.

Once again this year, it was time to leave the office and head into the forest. Our Tree-Plant-Day took us back to Schiers in the Prättigau, where we have been supporting a regional reforestation project for several years together with our partner myclimate.

At the center of this initiative is the protection and climate forest of the Prättigau-Davos region. This area is one of Switzerland’s key forest landscapes, where climate optimized forest management helps bind CO₂ long term and strengthens ecosystem stability.

Because forests are changing. Rising temperatures, dry periods, and extreme weather conditions are placing new demands on tree species and biodiversity. That is why resilient mixed forests are being actively promoted today, with species such as sycamore maple, spruce, or oak that are better suited to future conditions.

This is exactly where we were able to lend a hand again.

Working Where Others Hike:
Our Effort in the Prättigau.

Early in the morning, we set off from Zurich towards the mountains of Graubünden. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this day was not about theory, but about real hands on work in the field.

After the briefing from the local forester, it quickly became clear that this was not just about planting trees, but about true groundwork. Shovels, stakes, wire, everything was used at once. And just like that, a team of office workers turned into a well coordinated forest crew.

The conditions were anything but easy. Steep slopes, hard soil, and a lot of precision work. Every tree planted needs protection and space to grow sustainably.

Between the work and the fresh mountain air, there was also time for a shared barbecue moment, a short but important break before heading back to planting in the afternoon.

At the end of the day, one thing was clear. Every single tree planted is a small but tangible contribution to the forest of tomorrow. Working together and step by step leaving something behind that will hopefully last for decades.

Biodiversity in the Forest:
Why Diversity Matters.

A stable forest is always a diverse forest. It is the interaction between different tree species, age structures, and habitats that makes an ecosystem resilient.
These mixed forests serve several key functions. They provide habitats for wildlife, protect against natural hazards such as erosion or landslides, store CO₂, and regulate water and temperature cycles.

In Switzerland, forests also play a crucial role as protective forests, especially in alpine regions like the Prättigau. They help prevent natural hazards while stabilizing the local climate. This creates not just a forest, but a functioning ecosystem for the long term.

Step by Step:
Sustainability as a Part of Everyday Work.

Tree-Plant-Day is just one part of our commitment. For us, sustainability means continuity, not one off actions.
Coming up next is the Bike-to-Work Challenge, where we reduce CO₂ together while staying active. And during Clean-Up Day, we once again collect everything that does not belong in nature.

Because every contribution counts. Forests play a central role. They store CO₂, stabilize the climate, filter water, and create habitats for countless plant and animal species.

That is why, as part of every order, we invest a climate contribution in projects like this, both in Switzerland and internationally. This way, every project creates a direct positive impact on the climate.

For us at bb trading, sustainability is not an add on. It is part of our responsibility.

Did you know...

…that forests are among the most important natural climate protectors on Earth?

They absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere, store it long term in biomass and soil, and help regulate temperature in their surroundings.

You can calculate the CO₂ footprint of the products you order from us in just a few seconds on our website, transparent, fair, and sustainable.
