Wood feels good, is natural, cozy and sustainable – a true product of nature. But unfortunately, not all wood is automatically «good».
Illegal logging threatens our forests worldwide and is often linked to human rights violations and the displacement of indigenous communities.

FSC: What's
behind it?

FSC stands for Forest Stewardship Council® and is an international non-profit organization committed to promoting sustainable forestry. Ten binding principles ensure that products with the FSC label come from forests that are managed ecologically and socially responsible – with respect for nature, indigenous communities and biodiversity. Specifically, this means protecting valuable ecosystems, considering indigenous rights and regular checks along the entire supply chain. FSC is more than just a label – it stands for credibility, transparency and trust.

Real results:
Global impact.

Impressive: 42% of the Swiss forest area – around 545,000 hectares – is FSC-certified.
However, the timber market is global and a large proportion of the wood is imported. FSC ensures that imported timber products also meet clear ecological and social standards. This way, millions of hectares of forest worldwide are responsibly managed, illegal logging is made more difficult, and valuable habitats for animals and plants are preserved.
Sustainable forestry creates jobs, secures income and helps ensure that forests are not replaced by palm oil plantations, soybean fields, or other agricultural land.
FSC also sets minimum social standards along the supply chain – such as banning child labor and ensuring workers’ rights.
